Gin and Bitters by John Gray..Published in about 1939, this is the autobiography of a writer who enjoyed some small success in the 30s, but whose life was sadly cut short due to tuberculosis, a great scourge in those days. he recounts his life from his childhood during Ww1, his illness, his various jobs, and the horror of having both his mother and his sister certified as insane. The book has an introduction by his cousin, a writer called Ethel Mannin who was very well known at that time.
